*Hints of Leonardo da Vinci's studies of the fetus are evident in Ventura's Rising (1999-2017). Three other figures emphasize the relationship between generative processes in nature and the human condition. One human appears to be sleeping inside of a cocoon like a larva waiting to be transformed into a butterfly, another is about to shed its skin inside of a trench while a hand pushes him against dirt, covering his face in an aggressive gesture. Just as in Leonardo's studies the compositions several images, although 'Rising' the subjects are not immersed in amniotic fluid, but rather in dirt (Demetrio Paparoni, Ronald Ventura Works 1998-2017).
